Went to see Eat, Pray, Love tonight, and enjoyed it. Not nearly as much as the book, but that is just the way it always seems to go. I couldn’t put into words what held me back from enjoying it more, so I am glad you were able to. I really agree. Ironically, I kept thinking, during the Italy part, that it was moving too slowly, then all of a sudden, I felt like it made the leap to moving too quickly. Guess I wasn’t the only one! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

You made me want to go see the film set in Cairo (great invitation) and you picked up on some of my feelings about Eat, Pray, Love (the book). I am anxious to see the movie now to confirm my feelings. I loved Italy, liked India, and disliked Bali for some of the same reasons you gave about the movie. I felt Bali was a bit fictional (the fairy tale ending).The other two countries appeared more authentic with Italy being the most authentic. Perhaps the screenwriters felt as I did and didn’t put much into the ending because it was weak to begin with.
